First steps

Gary was born into show business. 

His father was the bass voice in the Southlanders, famous for singing 

“I Am A Mole And I Live In A Hole”.


Gary started out as a comedian and impressionist 

winning New Faces in 1978.

 

Television specials, guest appearances and a variety of series 

gained him a national profile.



From TV to theatre

In 1989 Gary played Bill Snibson in the award winning musical 

Me And My Girl, (Adelphi Theatre), his first West End role.

He played the role to critical acclaim for two years.

Credits

Gary has worked for over 40 years in TV, Film and Theatre.

Credits include; Teething Troubles, Carmen Jones, (Old Vic), Copacabana, (West End), a 6-part TV series for BBC and No.1 tour of Showstoppers, The Goodbye Girl, Oliver, One For The Road, Confusions, A Midsummer Night's Dream, HMS Pinafore and Pirates of Penzance, (ESC Regent's Park), Travels With My Aunt, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Half a Sixpence, The Wizard of Oz, Invisible Man, Chicago, Lord Arthur Saville's Crime, Big, Oklahoma, Radio Times, End of the Rainbow, Little Miss Sunshine, The Pajama Game, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Wind in the Willows. Mr Gum and the dancing bear, (NT), Flowers for Mrs Harris, Prince of Egypt, Anything Goes, Old Friends, Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, The Artist, Something Rotten, and has become the resident Pantomime Dame at the London Palladium since the Olivier winning production in 2017.

A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS

Following record-breaking ticket sales across the country, Theatre Royal Bath’s hugely acclaimed production of Robert Bolt’s classic A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS starring Martin Shaw and Gary Wilmot will transfer to London’s Harold Pinter Theatre this summer for thirty eight performances only.
